Yes your display needs a scaling because of it's high resolution.
You can however overrride this setting per program, please follow these steps:
Go to:
Under Compatibility tab, click Change high DPI Settings
Check "Override high DPI scaling...." and set the dropdown to System.
Then restart Ecdesign.
